Yesterday we had a ton of fun kayaking. We kayaked around six miles and made two pit stops along the way to enjoy the gorgeous water. At one spot, we climbed a small cliff, held onto a rope and jumped over the water and then let go to fall in. I was absolutely terrified and didn't think I was going to do it. However I ended up gathering the courage and went two more times after the first! I FINALLY got some color too, so I'll be happily bringing that back home with me.
Today was a long, but exciting day. We were in the Montessori classrooms observing so that tomorrow we can dive right in with the students. My favorite thing I observed was the infant/ toddler room. I loved all the similarities between this room and the primary room. Those little guys are SO independent!! We also ate lunch with our families for the first time. Because our families only speak a little English or none at all, it was challenging trying to have a conversation because I am just starting to learn Spanish for the first time. I would say that at first it was extremely awkward, for probably them as much as it was for us. However after we ate we talked for a good half hour and I tried very hard to make sentences or at least phrases of words I've been practicing. Spanish class is really helping me, I feel like I'm learning and remembering very quickly! We ended our day with dinner out. We went to a really nice place on the beach and had great conversations. We also took over their karaoke and sang a dozen or so songs as small groups and one big group. All the people at the restaurant watched us jam out and some even participated! It was a great bonding experience for all of us and I loved every minute of it! Now to hit the sheets so that we can do it all over again tomorrow (: loving EVERY second of this trip, what a blessing!
