Word for the weekend: Adventurous! We spent Sabado (Saturday) in the country; we drove up the steep hills of the Dominican to take a tour of a cacoa farm. I've seen more cows in the past two days than I've seen in my entire life. Althouh the weather made things muddier than we expected we saw and tasted many of the local crops including: plantains and passionfruit. The highlight of my day was taking part in the chocolate making process. We unshelled the roasted beans, watched them get smashed and rolled and eventually made into homemade hot chocolate!
Today was dedicated to a 6 mile kayaking expedition. That brought a few bumps, bruises and falls into the river! Nonetheless I had a blast and I'm not complaining one bit about my new tan lol. After a morning of taking on nature we were all looking foward to the R&R the night would bring, but are now positive we can take on anything!
Tomorrow starts our first full week at the school so wish us good weather and positve attitudes!
