Today was our first full day in Cabarete and it was also our first class at the Cabarete Language Institute! I can already tell that I am going to learn a ton from my instructor. To be honest, I was very nervous about the level that I was put in when attending the Institute, but I think that this opportunity will help me push myself in order to reach my full potential when it comes to communicating with others through a second language. After the class was over, I continued to apply my speaking skills through speaking with locals such as the taxi drivers and the waiters that I came into contact with. I am excited to learn new material from both the instructor and my other colleague who is taking this class with me!
In just two days I will be setting off to the Dominican Republic for the experience of a lifetime! I am very thankful to be given this opportunity. These past couple of weeks I have been scrambling around in order to get my belongings together for this journey. With this said, it is all worth it to me. I will not take this opportunity for granted and am ready to take everything from this experience and apply it to my teaching as a future educator. I am anxious and excited to be able to go to this wonderful destination in order to further my education and knowledge when it comes to teaching young children! I am looking forward to interacting with a diverse population and am excited to step out of my comfort zone. This experience will enhance my abilities when it comes to communicating with a population that does not speak English as their first language. I am excited to share my experiences through this blog! There will be much more to come once I make it to the Dominican Republic! 0 Comments |
