Eating with my host family has truly been a wonderful experience. Getting to know the family, practicing my Spanish and getting to know more about the culture through the food and daily conversations has made me so appreciative of the kindness of the people here and there generosity.
Everyday when we came to our host families house, she would already have the table set and most of the food would be placed on the table. once all of the food was ready she told us that we could serve ourselves. she was a good host because she made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed her food. She often asked us if we liked it or not and wanted us to tell her if we didn't like certain foods so she wouldn't make them anymore. She was a great multi-tasker. While entertaining us she also got her kids ready for school by getting their clothes and doing her children;s hair.
She was also very considerate because she knew how much we loved French Fries and how much we missed home, she often made us specific foods and made sure we had "Jugo de Chinola" (passion fruit juice (our favorite!) Over the course of time I also began to grow a strong bond with her youngest child. Every time we made contact, the one year old giggled and smiled at me. I even held him a few times and fed him his bottle.
This was a great experience and i'm happy that I was able to see how the rest of the world lives!
