I'm going to recap the excursion of the Cabarete Coffee Company, cocoa plantation through photos. Thank you Amanda for allowing me to borrow your photos. I will not be able to upload my own photos until I get home.
Semi group photo while going through the field. It was on and off raining, so aka lots of mud and gross hair.
A picture of the cocoa fruit before it is roasted and turned into chocolate.
After the fruit was roasted and the shell was pulled apart. We tried the bean at this stage and it is a very bitter, bitter dark chocolate. Not something I would enjoy, and I do love my chocolate.
This is when you crush the beans into a thick paste. You crush the beans in a trunk of a tree.
Once the cocoa turns into a paste, you roll them into balls, where you can then either let them dry and then turn it into chocolate bars or make hot chocolate!
Group photo at the plantation!
