The cold was the hardest thing to adjust to when I got back from the Dominican! SNOW YUCK!!
Since returning I find myself to be very different. I am not so quick to judge people and I am much more grateful for all that I have. Family members have also mentioned to me that they loved reading my blogs and they were able to see the growth that I made. After being constantly surrounded by people who are so grateful for all they have and always having such an upbeat attitude, you can't help but bring some of that back. I think that this experience will help me tremendously on my journey to becoming the best teacher I can possibly be. Not only will it be a little easier to communicate with people who speak Spanish in public schools. Also I think that this experience has given me a more open mind toward situations that children and their families may be going through.
I love telling people about all the experiences that I have had! I carry the pictures around with me in my purse because sometimes when I feel a little down due to the weather or the stress of life, it's nice to look back and remember the life changing experiences I was able to have.
I have no doubt in my mind that I will return to the beautiful Dominican and my second family that was created there. I miss all the people that I had the privilege of meeting down there, especially the cute kids! I can't wait to go back and see all of the growth that the school and children have made.
I'll see you soon Cabarete!
