I had my first two excursions this weekend. Yesterday, I went to a coco farm. I walked around and saw different fruit trees. We all had lunch at the families home. We ate beans and rice. After lunch hundreds of coco beans were dumped onto the table. As a group we peeled the beans and threw them into a bowl. Then one of the younger boys came out with a masher. He put the coco beans in and mashed them until it turned into a thick paste. Then, an older lady came out and molded the coco paste. While she was inside making homemade hot chocolate for us another villager came to the house with ice cream in a cooler. He travels from house to house and sells the ice cream for 25 pesos.
This house had pigs and chickens. While we were by the chicken coup the older man and his son took two of them out. None of us knew that cock fighting was legal down here, but we found out and witnessed a glimpse of this taking place. Another thing I noticed is how a lot of villagers walk around barefoot. Dogs also roam around everywhere!
Today, I went kayaking for approximately 6 miles. Kaycie was my partner and I steered our kayak. We stopped at one point to swim in the river, climb a tree branch that was hanging, and jumped off. At another point we stopped and swung off a rope swing into the river. I also tried paddle boarding for a couple of minutes. This excursion reminded me of a movie. Everything we did was absolutely amazing!!
