I am now home back in Buffalo. The time spent in the Dominican went by way too fast. I never had such an amazing experience and I would recommend a journey like this to anyone. I developed some strong bonds and created new friendships with some remarkable woman. I met some of these women for my first time these past few months and I feel like I have known them forever! It makes me happy to say that we already have plans to met up and hang out even though our trip is over. The friendships that I had with those women that I already knew going into this experience is even stronger then it was before the trip. Although some things were not perfect, the memories I created with several of the women were some of the greatest I have had.
Leaving the family that I ate lunch with everyday was more difficult then I thought. The two young girls started to cry as they hugged us goodbye. I realized how hard it must be for them. These young girls see volunteers all the time and they begin to develop relationships with them and then one day they are gone. The father of the house told me that he had a Facebook. This is great because now I can keep in touch and communicate with the family.
