I've been doing well in my spanish classes. I am able to put words together to partially make a sentence. When I walk around the town I try to communicate with the Dominicans. Sometimes they understand and sometimes they look at me really confused. When I do say something correctly I think I trick them into thinking I speak fluent spanish. They will say a few sentences to me and I will become completely lost. I understand how important it is to begin to study and learn a language as a young child. I also know that if I were to ever become fluent in spanish I would have to immerse myself in a culture for months. I am beginning to feel more confidence when I try to speak to the community,
Yesterday, we all went to a quiet beach to relax and enjoy the waves. We had a lot of fun as a group. After the beach all the ladies decided to go out to eat and have some down time. We are really beginningToday, we went zip lining and fed spider monkeys. On this excursion one could notice how close the bonds are becoming between some of us ladies. If someone was nervous everyone would calm them down and encourage them before they went down the zip line. By the end of this experience the group had smiles on their faces and we were all proud of each other. This shows how important it is to form a community inside the classroom. Children need to know that they have to try and overcome their fears and they can do this with the help of others.
