The past two days I have been more adventurous than ever before in my life! I never thought that I would be able to build up the courage to do so many things that I have never tried before. Yesterday we drove up into the mountains to tour a cocoa plantation. Although I naturally would have preferred the weather to be sunny and hot, the excursion was much more exciting and memorable because it was so rainy that the whole group was slipping and sliding around in the mud! We were able to taste passion fruit and fresh cocoa right off the trees! The scenery was absolutely gorgeous! We then sat down together for a yummy lunch with a family on the plantation and even got to taste freshly made hot cocoa. The best part was actually taking the cocoa from the seed and grinding it up to form the paste that the chocolate is made from. It was a really cool experience, especially because chocolate is my absolute favorite food! At the end of the day we went shopping together at a huge grocery store, Janets! I was shocked that the store had so many "American" foods. The food was so cheap! It only cost around 90 American dollars to feed about 4 girls for a week! Although I enjoy some of the food we are trying here I was thrilled to have an Oreo when we got home!
Today we kayaked 6 miles down the river and it was the most exciting and thrilling I have ever done! We made a few pit stops to swim, paddle board and swung from a rope swing 20 feet up and jumped into the water! The sun was shining, the landscape was perfect and the day was amazing, I am so proud of myself for conquering my fears and stepping out of my comfort zone.
