Today we got to go to the monkey jungle and zip lining. Both were awesome experiences despite the rain.
Going through the monkey jungle was an awesome experience. We held out plates of fruit and nuts and a species of small monkey would land on us. Some would go on our arms and backs while others decided to go right up to our heads to eat their snack. At first I thought I needed to be timid when the monkeys jumped on me. That they would be heavy and that I would feels nails and wouldn't be able to move. This wasn't true at all. The small monkeys were light weight and had soft paws. When they landed on you the initial shock was there, but it wasn't much and immediately vanished. This is defiantly an experience I would like to re-visit!
The second part of our day was the zip lining. At first I was nervous about jumping off a platform far above the ground. But after a short trek up the side of the mountain I was more than ready to just let gravity take me and glide in the air. And that it just what it felt like, flying. We went through six different courses and it was an amazing feeling. The only thing that I didn't like was the fifth thing we had to do, there are actually seven courses but this one wasn't across, it was down. Just about all of us took a 53 foot verticle leap down in to a bat cave. I must admit the guide had to try hard to physically push me off the edge but eventually I went down on my own accord, eyes shut tight. The jump was quick and not "terrible", but I don't think that it is something that I will willingly do again any time soon.
Even with the rain and the drop of doom, all in all this was a pretty great day out!
